Marietta, GA Seeking to break the stranglehold that Democrats and Republicans place on third parties in Georgia, Libertarian candidate Dale Ritchey will be conducting a massive ballot access petition drive on Saturday, June 3. Calling the effort Project BAM (Ballot Access Mile), the would-be 34th District candidate for the State House of Representatives needs only 718 additional signatures to ensure his name will appear on the ballot in November. This will give him 2100 signatures, 50% more than the minimum amount necessary to get on the ballot in his district.
"I am confident that Project BAM will put us over the top", stated Ritchey, a small business owner in Cobb County who is running perhaps the strongest Libertarian campaign in the state. "We expect dozens of volunteers to assist us in our drive."
Ritchey's latest petition effort, which will begin on Saturday, June 3 at 9:00 A.M. at his home in Marietta, will be an example of grass roots democracy at its best - volunteers going door-to-door in an effort to qualify a candidate they believe in.
"I just wish the older parties would not make us jump through so many hoops just to be heard, but the Libertarian Party will continue to grow whether they like it or not", commented Ritchey.
"The Democrats and Republicans are basically one party", said Ritchey. "I'm petitioning to let the voters know they actually have a choice - that there really is someone out there who wants to reduce tax burdens for working families and who does not want to tell them what they can or cannot do in their private lives."
