Let's Remind People what July 4th is All About
The Marietta Fourth of July Parade has many politicians, candidates and political parties from around the entire state marching in it every year (Roy Barnes was in it last year). The annual turnout to watch the parade is about 80,000 people. The local media loves to get plenty of photographs. And this year we want Dale Ritchey and the Libertarian Party of Georgia to have the biggest presence of any group there.
This event is one of Dale's personal favorites and he's been working hard to get Libertarians and all friends of freedom from across Georgia to march in this year's parade behind the Libertarian banner.
Last year the Libertarian Party was not even going to do the parade but at the last minute Dale and Wes Benedict got a rented convertible and put a couple homemade signs on it. They got positioned between the Democrats (who had a dozen or so people and a float) and the Republicans (who also had a dozen or so people). And tucked in the middle was just the two of them, to be honest they weren't expecting much.
But then in what proved once and for all that the Libertarian Party is now ready to compete with the Dems and Reps head on, the people watching the parade cheered more for Dale and Wes than either of the two parties. All up and down the route people were genuinely excited to see the party of principle make a showing, and marches from the other parties were heard muttering about the response the Libertarians were getting.
Well ever since then Dale has been energized about this year's showing of the LP. We figured if a last minute entry with two guys and a couple homemade signs got such an amazing response then what about a planned appearance with decorations and everything. And just imagine instead of 2 people we had 30 or 50 or even 70! Just picture 70 Libertarians marching between the modest showings of the Democrats and Republicans. Image what spectators will think when they see dozens and dozens of normal looking people marching behind the Libertarian banner. The impact from this one event could help the image and the impact of the Libertarian Party in tremendous ways. And finally it's about time Libertarians started setting the standard and let the other two parties start playing catch up to us!

The parade will begin at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 4 at the Roswell Street Baptist Church (Map and Directions), participants need to be there by 9:00 AM.
Make sure you sign up for the event that will put the Libertarian Party on the lips of thousands of Georgians!

Dale was in the Kennesaw/Big Shanty Festival Parade along with many supports who handed out the popular "Dale Ritchey official lollipop".
