Dear Editor,
I have to comment on a letter that appeared on your you opinion page recently. The letter cited rock and roll as the primary reason for the moral decay in this country. As a lover of this country, it's constitution and freedom I take issue with that kind of logic. Rock and roll is the combination of blues and country music, both born of oppressed people crying out for the liberties guaranteed by our forefathers struggle. The promise of a life unencumbered by an excessive government made this the greatest country on the planet.
If there is anything to be blamed for the increasing lack of morality it is this ever growing and costly government that permeates nearly every htmect of our lives. When government subsidizes illegitimacy at the expense of hard working Americans, morals decline. When government forces both parents to work just to pay an astronomical tax burden, leaving children at daycare facilities, morals decline. When government takes money from one group of people at the point of a gun, then gives it to another and calls it compassion, morals decline.
People who wish to use the force of government to out law things they don't like or understand do not love freedom. There is no morality in slavery.
