Dear Editor,
I doubt that I've ever felt more compelled to write a letter. Regarding a letter you received recently from a reader in Germany that remarked "At the root of all the gun evils are the 2nd amendment and the right to bear arms".
How about a quote from another German, namely Adolph Hitler, "The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the people to carry arms". Having a constitutional right to bear arms guarantees us, as Americans that what happened to the Jews in Germany under Hitler's fascist dictatorship will never happen in this country.
People who truly love freedom realize that once guns are banned, the people as a whole will have no recourse against an overbearing and oppressive government.
