QMF2Excel is a very useful program for a very specific need. It makes downloading QMF files and converting them to Excel easy and fun.
Like many other IT departments of large non-IT organizations, we still use some very old technology where I work - specifically QMF mainframe reports. We have been manually downloading these reports though a cumbersome mainframe emulator, and then converting them to Excel with a hit or miss processes using the fixed width Text to Columns tool. Then we would finally finish off the reports with column names, slightly prettier formatting and giving them useful file names.
Until I finally realized that this is just the type of busy work computers love to do. So I developed a Windows based program to do just that.
Specs
These are just the specs I am using, I’m sure the QMF2Excel can work with other versions of QMF, Excel and Windows. If you have different versions, try it out and see what you get!
