The meeting, to be held at 7 P.M. at the East Cobb Government Center on Lower Roswell Road, is the first of twelve to be held throughout the county to gauge the public’s support for the tax hike. “I am deeply disturbed by the decision of the Cobb Board of Commissioners in forming this committee,” said Dale Ritchey, 6th District Representative of the Libertarian Party of Georgia. “It is yet another attempt by our government to separate working citizens from their hard-earned money.” “How can we expect our local government to responsibly use even more tax money after the SPLOST debacle of last year?” stated Ritchey. “The budget for the new Marietta high school has already been exceeded by $20 million. Why should we trust them this time?” “The average American is paying the highest tax rates in the history of our country, and they want more?” exclaimed Ritchey. “We plan to rally supporters for our cause to voice our opposition to the committee. We encourage all citizens who are against this tax to join us. ” The Libertarian Party is the fastest growing political party in the nation and has quadrupled its membership since 1995. ###
