Release From: The Libertarian Party of Cobb County an affiliate of the Libertarian Party of Georgia Libertarian Dale Ritchey Files Nomination Petition July 11, 2000 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Michael Powers 770-667-9777 (Days) 770-590-8772 (Evenings) mtpowers@mindspring.com Marietta, GA – Voters in west Cobb County may soon find out if they get to choose who represents them in the Georgia General Assembly next year. Gulf War veteran Dale Ritchey will file his nomination petition with the Secretary of State today in order to challenge incumbent John Wiles for the 34th District State House seat. Ritchey and an army of volunteers have been going door-to-door for five months gathering signatures on a petition just to get his name on the ballot. He needs 1396 signatures from registered voters within his district to be included in the fall election. “Citizens in the district deserve a choice”, claimed Ritchey. “I’m just trying to make sure they have one this November.” Mr. Wiles will run unopposed this year in the primary and general elections unless Ritchey gets on the ballot. The Ritchey campaign has collected over 2100 signatures in an attempt to assure him a position on the ballot. “We visited nearly half of the homes within the district during our petition drive,” stated Ritchey. “The voters have been very receptive to our message of smaller government, lower taxes, and personal responsibility.” For more information, visit Dale’s website at http://www.daleritchey.com.
