Release From: The Libertarian Party of Cobb County an affiliate of the Libertarian Party of Georgia Ballot Access Drive Yields Results For State House Candidate Ritchey June 3, 2000 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Michael Powers 770-667-9777 (Days) 770-590-8772 (Evenings) mtpowers@mindspring.com Marietta, GA – Grassroots campaigning is alive and well in Cobb County, where Libertarian candidate Dale Ritchey and over two dozen volunteers gathered today for a massive ballot access petition drive. The effort, code named Project BAM (Ballot Access Mile), yielded 350 signatures from registered voters in his district. This gives the would-be 34th District candidate for State House of Representatives a total of 1750 signatures, easily surpassing the 1396 he needs to get on the fall ballot. “I am extremely pleased with the results of our ballot access drive”, stated Ritchey, a small business owner and Gulf War veteran. “Thanks to the efforts of my campaign staff and volunteers, voters in the district will be able to choose who represents them in the General Assembly.” The incumbent, John Wiles, will run unopposed in the general election if Ritchey does not meet the restrictive ballot access requirements imposed by the state of Georgia on third party and independent candidates, some of the toughest in the nation. “We plan to continue our door-to-door petitioning until the July signature deadline”, replied Ritchey. “The voters in the district have been very receptive to our message of smaller government and more individual liberties.” For more information, visit Dale’s website at http://www.daleritchey.com.
