Release From: The Libertarian Party of Cobb County an affiliate of the Libertarian Party of Georgia Libertarian Party Nominates Dale Ritchey at State Convention March 18, 2000 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Michael Powers 770-667-9777 (Days) 770-590-8772 (Evenings) mtpowers@mindspring.com Atlanta, GA – Dale Ritchey, candidate for 34th District State Representative, was nominated at the Libertarian Party of Georgia’s state convention on Saturday, March 18. Mr. Ritchey was among three dozen Libertarian candidates nominated for public office in the upcoming election this November. Mr. Ritchey, a Gulf War veteran and small business owner in Cobb County, is running on the libertarian platform of smaller government. However, Mr. Ritchey faces an uphill battle in order to get his name on the ballot. Georgia has some of the toughest laws in the nation when it comes to ballot access for third parties. This hurdle could possibly mean that some of the nominated Libertarian candidates will not be around at election time. Mr. Ritchey has organized a considerable grassroots effort thus far. His campaign staff and volunteers have visited over 2000 homes in his district, and he has collected about half of the 1400 signatures he needs to get on the ballot. He intends to have 2500 signatures by the July deadline. For more information, visit Dale’s campaign website at www.daleritchey.com. ###
