Release From: The Libertarian Party of Cobb County an affiliate of the Libertarian Party of Georgia Libertarian to Announce Candidacy for State Representative Seat January 25, 2000 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Michael Powers 770-667-9777 (Days) 770-590-8772 (Evenings) mtpowers@mindspring.com Marietta, GA – Dale Ritchey, the 6th District Representative for the Libertarian Party of Georgia, will announce his candidacy for the 34th District State Representative seat at a campaign rally on Friday, February 4. The rally will be held at the East Cobb Government Center, 4400 Lower Roswell Road in Marietta, at 7 P.M. Everyone is welcome to attend. “I felt like it was time to stand up for what I believe in”, stated Mr. Ritchey, when asked why he wants to run for public office. “I can no longer stand by and do nothing while our taxes continue to rise and our individual liberties are taken away.” “There seems to be little difference between Democrats and Republicans today – both parties want bigger government in one form or another”, replied Ritchey. “The average American is paying the highest tax rates in our history. Neither party is truly interested in a constitutionally limited government that guarantees freedoms to peaceful citizens. That’s why I think my message of limited government will resonate with voters.” “It will be an uphill battle just to get on the ballot, due to restrictive ballot access laws here in Georgia”, replied Mr. Ritchey. “If elected, I will promote and support all measures that will keep government out of our wallets and out of our personal lives – no excuses, no exceptions.” Mr. Ritchey is the owner of a small business, NDR Construction, established in 1995. He and his wife Yvonne have a daughter, Dessie Mae. ###
